ClaimsPro’s Appraisal Unit provides disciplined, senior‑led appraisal services to support the fair and efficient resolution of property and business interruption valuation disputes. When insurers and insureds cannot agree on the value of property insured, property saved, or the amount of loss, our appraisers bring clarity, preparation, and credibility to the appraisal process.
Appraisal is an efficient, cost-effective and binding process for resolving disputes over quantum without prolonged litigation. Once invoked, each party appoints an appraiser, and the two appraisers appoint an umpire. The appraisers will work together to determine the issues under dispute, trying to come to an agreement. If they fail to agree, they then submit their differences to the umpire. The umpire alone cannot determine the value, two of three must agree. Once two have agreed an appraisal assessment is prepared by the umpire.
